Medina Doyle Technologies, a Vicksburg-based leader in advanced water treatment solutions, was honored by the Mississippi SBDC Network as its Essential Infrastructure Innovator of the Year. Through its cutting-edge work in water infrastructure and sustained engagement with the RISE Center at Ole Miss, the company is helping strengthen Mississippi’s resilience and accelerate growth in the state’s emerging innovation economy.

Mississippi SBDC Network Opens Center
at Alcorn State University
The opening of the Mississippi SBDC @ Alcorn State marks a major expansion of entrepreneurial support in Southwest Mississippi. As part of the Mississippi SBDC Network, the center serves nine counties with additional access points in Natchez and Vicksburg—strengthening the network’s capacity to deliver high-impact advising, technical assistance, and training across the region. By embedding these services within Alcorn State University, the initiative enhances regional economic development, supports student innovation, and provides local entrepreneurs with a front door to start, grow, and scale their businesses.
DISTRICT 2 RESULTS
In 2025, the Mississippi SBDC Network delivered Digital Marketing Bootcamp 2.0 programming across Congressional District 2, reaching 152 entrepreneurs through in-person training sessions. Funded through the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Portable Assistance Grant, the program provided hands-on digital marketing education to support small business growth and sustainability.
Digital Marketing Bootcamp 2.0 sessions were hosted in Jackson, Kosciusko, Vicksburg, Cleveland, and Grenada, ensuring broad geographic coverage across Central and Delta Mississippi. These trainings equipped entrepreneurs with practical tools to improve online visibility, reach new customers, and strengthen their digital presence in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
Following the completion of the Digital Marketing Bootcamp 2.0 series, participating businesses had the opportunity to engage in one-on-one counseling services with the Mississippi SBDC Network to further apply digital marketing strategies and support continued business growth.

VerteCore, an innovative Mississippi-based medical technology company, was recognized by the Mississippi SBDC Network as its Emerging Medical Device Company of the Year. Through advancements in non-surgical spinal decompression technology and sustained collaboration with the RISE Center at Ole Miss, VerteCore is helping position Mississippi as a growing hub for medical device innovation. The company’s partnership with MSBDCN underscores the network’s commitment to supporting Mississippi entrepreneurs developing solutions that improve health outcomes and strengthen the state’s technology economy.
